that incorporate a vacuum-deposited metal film. The film reflects
infrared back to the lamp and transmits ultraviolet. This is known as a
hot mirror.
Curved profiles
are also available with a special IR transmitting, ultraviolet
reflecting coating known as a cold
mirror. Unfortunately, any optically coated material has limited
cleaning ability due to the nature of the vacuum coating.
